"Slogging The Slavs" - a great book by Angus Bell re-telling his epic road trip around central and eastern Europe on his pursuit of his debut cricketing century accompanied by an infant ghost for support.

From tournaments on ice in Estonia to university leagues in the crumbling Crimea; from a Croatian military island to communist Belarus, Slavs are playing the Englishman's game. Scotsman Angus sets off in his Škoda to smack them all for six.

Desi, Nadya, Didi, Megi and all at Top Bulgarian Properties have been a great help with organization and translation. We owe you all a Zagorka or two!
A great hotel with the friendliest staff located in the centre of Varna, right next to fountain and very near the cathedral. It was Marietta who started all this. Her friend Lachezar plays for the Bulgarian team. Out of all the hotels in Varna this is my favourite.

"Digging into the World of Cricket"

An interesting article about Saif ur Rehman, the founder of cricket in Bulgaria.

Taken from The Sofia Echo

(27th November 2006 by Kristy Drake).

A link to an interesting thread discussing the setting up of an expats cricket team in Varna. we get a mention or two (thanks Andy).

"Penguins Stopped Play" by Harry Thompson

One of the funniest cricket book I've read. He mentions his team beat Malaysia and it got me thinking........................................

If you like cricket you'll love this. I don't think a page went by without me laughing out loud. The author invented 'Have I Got News For You' and 'Never Mind The Buzzocks'. Buy it. Now.
